A new survey finds that Gen Z women turn to TikTok over Google for searches. Data from Her Campus Media—collected from 97% female respondents—found that overall, 74% of Gen Z uses TikTok search and 54% of respondents preferred TikTok to Google when it came to search engine options. Some of the main reasons for this preference included “the video format of the results” (69%), “more relatable answers” (65%), and “personalized answers” (47%). Furthermore, Gen Z is turning to TikTok for purchasing products—with 72% having bought something that they saw on their FYP.
