Most consumers think the stigma against secondhand shopping is fading. YPulse data has shown for a while now that Gen Z and Millennial consumers are all for secondhand shopping—with benefits ranging from its eco-friendliness and prices to the fact that they love a treasure hunt for stylish items. Now, data from OfferUp and GlobalData shows that more than a quarter of consumers surveyed (not just young consumers) “said they began buying secondhand goods for the first time in the past year.” So, combined with the enthusiasm from young consumers, the “recommerce” industry is only expected to continue growing in value—in turn, YPulse has seen several traditional retailers making resale their next endeavor.
