Research shows that most Gen Z teenagers are actually paying attention to YouTube advertisements.Data from Precise TV and Giraffe Insights shows that about eight in 10 teenagers are on the social media platform, and 45% are likely to recall an advertisement that they’ve viewed on it. What stands out though, is that Gen Z teens specifically are twice as likely to recall an ad from YouTube over TikTok (which is the platform’s top competitor). Precise TV’s Chief Commercial Officer says that “These findings are already convincing many of our advertising partners…to double down on YouTube as their top video advertising channel.” YPulse’s Attention Economy trend report also proves the importance of YouTube in the era of TikTok: 65% of Gen Z told us that they are more likely to remember content from YouTube than content from TikTok, versus 35% who chose the short-form app as more memorable.
