This summer is “for the girls,” according to current pop culture. From Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour to Beyonce’s Renaissance tour to Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, this season is all about girl power. It seems like now more than ever, there are cultural opportunities for young girls and women to celebrate their femininity and uplift other women in female-dominated spaces, which is not something that is often celebrated or even offered. “Swifties” are exchanging friendship bracelets at her concerts, Beyoncé has brought out her daughter Blue Ivy as a backup dancer during her shows, and girls / women of all ages are dressing up in pink to see the Barbie movie together. YPulse research shows that gender equality / sexism is amongst the top 10 social causes / issues that Gen Z and Millennials care about the most, so the female-driven cultural shift this summer is majorly backed by these young gens.
