The Metropolitan Museum is partnering with Verizon to launch an augmented reality app to bring the museum into Roblox. The museum is making moves into the metaverse with their new Verizon-collaborated app, Replica. The app can be used with Roblox where users can see a virtual version of the Met’s most popular spaces, providing “an immersive cultural and educational experience” for Gen Alpha and Gen Z. The Met’s director and chief executive says that this collaboration “inspire[s] playful connections with art in the museum as well as in the digital realm.” And as YPulse reported nearly a decade ago how the Met curated cultural experiences to cater to young Millennials, they are now entering the culture of the metaverse to appeal to the next young generations of museumgoers.
