Artificial intelligence has the potential to help the resale market. Resale companies like Poshmark have been looking to the tech to improve features like search and item recognition. Earlier this month, Poshmark released its first AI tool—Posh Lens—an identifying and visual search tool that finds products similar to images that it’s shown. Although it sounds simple, businesses can use tools like this to streamline product postings and “[allow sellers] to recognize inventory faster and price it competitively.” YPulse’s Fashion Preferences & Style report shows 61% of Gen Z and Millennials say they like to shop for vintage / secondhand clothing, so if more resale companies integrate AI to improve their platforms, it will likely gain the attention of these young gens.
