Elon Musk changed Twitter’s logo to a simple “X” to progress towards making it an “everything app.” From the iconic bird to a standalone letter, Twitter as users know it is no longer. The motivations for changing the logo are a part of Musk’s vision to combine social media, instant messaging, and payment services, essentially making the platform an all-in-one destination. This past Sunday, before nixing Twitter’s logo, Musk tweeted that “soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and gradually, all the birds.” It is uncertain what is next for the social media platform, though YPulse research shows that young people have slowly been turning away from Twitter already, but whether this newest change will bring them back or push more to go is yet to be determined.
