Junk Theory is on a mission to educate their Gen Z customers about sustainable packaging. The DTC clean skincare brand, launched this June, is not just looking to sell their products to consumers, but to promote plastic-free, completely renewable packaging. Junk theory currently sells three products on their website: a $28 juniper biome cleanser, a $58 chamomile hyaluronic moisturizer, and a $72 overnight moisturizing treatment. With the help of brand advisors, the company decided to develop all their green packaging using aluminum—the most sustainable option—and didn’t incorporate any pumps into their products because, as the co-founder says, “your hands work fine,” as this application method ensures the least product waste. YPulse research shows that Gen Z and Millennial consumers believe brands should educate them about the environment and make reusable products with eco-friendly packaging, all of which Junk Theory is doing.
