Coors Light and Patrick Mahomes got imaginative in their new ad to avoid certain NFL regulations. The beer brand and NFL quarterback worked around the league’s rules against players promoting beer in their latest campaign—rather than directly promoting the Coors Light Beer, they promoted the Coors Light Bear. The ad features Mahomes and the bear enjoying activities together including playing golf and watching TV, which friends would usually accompany with a beer. The NFL player closes out the cheeky commercial by saying, “Coors Light Bear. The world’s most refreshing bear.” Additionally, the brand is selling a golf club head cover with the Coors Light Bear on their website. YPulse’s Sports & Athletics report data shows that the vast majority of Gen Z and Millennials are sports fans, and even though the younger gen isn’t that much into drinking, we do know they’re receptive to quirky marketing.
