BOND, a new retail company, is changing the way people shop. Although the concept of livestream shopping is rather new to U.S. consumers, other parts of the world regularly use platforms like BOND to buy clothing or beauty products directly from a platform’s livestream. However, this emerging company is aiming to redefine the live-shopping experience: “BOND offers a place where creators can connect with their audience in a more interactive way and then with a frictionless shopping experience.” Creators can either showcase products on livestream or prerecorded content, giving them more control to dictate how and what is sold. And since dropping their app on Tuesday, it is already seeing signs of success: more than 65 creators and 50 brands have joined BOND with a combined following of 35M, and they’re starting off with $2M in investments. YPulse research shows social shopping is only growing more popular among young consumers, but only time will tell if livestreams will truly catch on in the U.S. (Tech Crunch)
