Booking.com is warning LGBTQ+ travelers of safety concerns this year despite recent progress. Current research from the travel industry site is revealing that there may be reason for LGBTQ+ customers in the U.K. to stay extra alert when traveling. According to the survey data, current topics covered in the news “has put discriminatory legislation and views in the spotlight for many, impacting considerations around vacation decisions for 78% of [U.K.] respondents.” However, the efforts of the travel industry to reinforce confidence in travelers (regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity) has been successful, with 82% of U.K. LGBTQ+ travelers feeling reassured to travel. YPulse’s Travel report data shows 36% of LGBTQ+ young people in North America say solo travel seems cool, but they’re still concerned about their safety, compared to 23% of non-LGBTQ+ young people.
