Gen Z and Millennials are looking for Wall Street jobs as big tech looks less promising.

May 25 2023

Gen Z and Millennials are looking for Wall Street jobs as big tech looks less promising. College students and young professionals who have spent the last few years working toward jobs at companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta are starting to look for careers in finance amid a current lack of job security in the tech field. As hundreds of thousands have been laid off by even the biggest, most profitable tech giants, Gen Z, hoping for high industry pay, are finding that it’s banks who can offer them the salaries and security they’re after. And though several of the major banks are facing layoffs of their own, young hires seem to think they’ll make it out alright, and with better odds than tech. YPulse’s Employment and Career Goals report shows that while having a high paying job is important to Gen Z, having a healthy work / life balance is more important, and good benefits are also a top priority.
