Uber is launching a new feature that allows parents to create monitored accounts for their teens under 18-years-old. Linked to a central family profile, the new feature enables teens to request Uber rides and order food deliveries on Uber Eats. To provide peace of mind for parents, and safety for their kids, the new accounts notify parents when teens request rides and send notifications when they reach their destination. And of course, stringent safety measures include limiting trips to the home metro area, riders providing a PIN for drivers, and allowing teens to bring up to three friends aged 13 or older. Uber will also introduce extra safety tools such as real-time trip tracking, driver ratings, and optional audio recordings of rides. The feature will initially be available in 28 metro areas in the U.S. and Canada. (WSJ)
