The majority of kids (86%) are worried all the time.

May 11 2023

The majority of kids (86%) are worried all the time. According to a Nemours KidsHealth survey, “more than 1 in 3 children ages 9 to 13 worry at least once a week.” Among the most common worries are “school (about 64%), friendships (41%), and family members (33%).” Other worries include concerns about their appearance and bullying as they grow older and an even more alarming statistic is that “1 in 5 expressed worries about safety (22%) or violence in the world (19%).” Recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also shows that kids’ mental health has been declining since the pandemic and what’s even more imperative than the subject matter is the frequency of children’s worries. Parents are being advised that sometimes the best thing to do is simply ask their kids what’s on their minds. YPulse’s Mental Health report data shows 81% of Millennial parents agree: “I’m trying to have open conversations with my child about mental health.” (CBS)
