The NFL is using YouTube to get Gen Z interested in the Sunday Ticket. To appeal to this gen through the league’s YouTube channel, they’re tapping social media influencers Lisa Nguyen (4.3M YouTube subscribers) and Katie Feeney (3.2M YouTube subscribers and 7M TikTok followers) to go to the Draft in-person and capture footage to promote NFL Sunday Ticket package on their platforms. The NFL’s main goal at the moment is to teach young consumers exactly how to get the subscription, as well as build a community of young fans on YouTube. The org recognizes that few Gen Z have cable and watching sports mainly takes place on streaming for this gen. YPulse’s Sports and Athletics report data shows 66% of Gen Z who follow sports leagues do so via streaming. (Digiday)
