Remote work is hurting the nonprofit behind “Take Your Kids to Work Day.” Michigan State University is holding its first in-person “Take Our Kids to Work Day” since the pandemic began, with over 1,500 employees and children having registered. The “Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Foundation,” which has long promoted the day, hoped that this year, more organizations would remind people of the importance of showing children where their parents work. For the second year, the foundation hosted a virtual event with Junior Achievement USA that included a gameshow format where panelists answered questions about their careers. The foundation has had challenges, with no current employees, and is partnering with Junior Achievement USA to ensure its survival. Although, YPulse’s Employment and Career report data shows that Millennial parents are more likely to say that they can see themselves working full time in an office five years from now than non-parents, so the tradition has the potential to be kept alive.
