Airbnb prices are up, so now the company is focusing on single rooms to lure in visitors. Airbnb is introducing a dedicated Rooms category to its platform allowing users to rent a private room in a host’s home, and it’s being marketed as a cheaper alternative to hotels. The Rooms tab will also include a Host Passport which gives users more information about their accommodation, such as the host’s interests, how long they have been hosting on Airbnb, and whether they have confirmed their identity with the platform. Other changes include the introduction of filters that allow users to switch between different types of accommodations as well as a price filter that shows how many listings are in a chosen price range. YPulse’s new Travel report data shows that nearly 40% of Gen Z and Millennials have used Airbnb for accommodations during a trip in the last year. (TechCrunch, The Verge)
