BeReal is testing a new feature in the U.K. to stay relevant in the social media game—and draw more users to the viral platform. The app’s latest feature is called RealPeople, and is designed to bring users “a curated timeline of the most interesting people.” RealPeople is essentially a mix of people users know (and don’t) to highlight anti-influencer culture: “it’s an attempt to show that public figures are real and boring too.” The app also recently launched “Bonus BeReal” which allows users to make two additional posts throughout the day (but only if their first post was made during the allotted two-minute window), encouraging users to visit the app more than once a day. YPulse’s data from our WE Social Media Behavior Report shows that 28% of European Gen Z use BeReal, but our research also shows the app has been on a decline among young consumers in North America.
