Chipotle is aiming to cut their carbon footprint in half by 2030—and they’re starting with a new restaurant design. YPulse’s Sustainability report data shows 81% of Gen Z and Millennials think corporations (e.g. companies, brands, etc.) should take more responsibility for fighting climate change. Chipotle is listening: starting next year, more than one hundred of the chain’s new locations will use all-electric equipment, and they’ve already opened locations with the new features in Gloucester, Virginia, and Jacksonville, Florida. On top of replacing gas with electric, the new design will include “cactus-leather chairs, artwork made from recycled corn husks, biodegradable packaging for food and drinks, smaller cook lines, improved exhaust hoods and heat-pump water heaters.” Plus, some locations will be getting rooftop solar panels and charging stations for electric vehicles.
