Young Italians can’t use ChatGPT anymore: government officials have temporarily banned the platform in the country. The move—a first among countries in the West—is motivated by “doubts about the legitimacy of the data processing” from OpenAI—the company that owns ChatGPT. And it’s happening just days after a group of academic and tech leaders, including Elon Musk, wrote an open-letter to beg companies to press pause on the development of artificial intelligence tech. Now, ChatGPT has twenty days to answer all the privacy concerns raised by the Italian government to be able reopen the platform in the country. (Repubblica)
