Chlöe Bailey’s NSFW scene in Swarm ignited quite the controversy on the internet. The Amazon Prime Video series just dropped Friday but already has the internet in an uproar. Created by Donald Glover and Janine Nabers (and featuring Billie Eilish’s acting debut), the show is openly based on Beyoncé’s stardom and follows “an obsessed, Houston-based fan [who] goes to increasingly violent lengths for her favourite R&B singer.” But the internet can’t get over singer Chlöe Bailey’s sex scene with Damson Idris, and Black Twitter has been in a frenzy with memes about the star’s opening scene. While most of the internet can’t look away, some are expressing shock at the graphic scene and their “loss of respect” for the singer. Nevertheless, the series is TV’s first portrayal of a Black female serial killer which is step in the right direction considering YPulse’s data shows that Gen Z and Millennials feel there is still a lot that could be done to improve representation, and that includes allowing POC actors to explore all kinds of roles.
