Veganism has hit the runway in Paris thanks to Stella McCartney. Back in 2020, YPulse predicted that the food-focused plant-based trend would spread to all industries, particularly fashion. Three years on, plant-based materials were a major focus on Stella McCartney’s runway. While attention might have been on the seven horses that joined models on the catwalk, the “leather” accessories shown were made of grapes, apples, and mushrooms. The designer has been driving the point that her clothes “haven’t killed anything,” and says of plant-based fabrics: “[while] it doesn’t seem that exciting, in science it’s a big deal…Every time you eat an apple, you’re basically eating a handbag.” (The Guardian)
