Zarta is a new platform for creators that offers cheaper pay-per-view models. Similarly to the subscription platform Patreon, Zarta functions as a creator space but is modeled as a “micro pay-per-view” where paywalled content can be unlocked for as little as ten cents per video, a more affordable option for fans—and it goes directly to creators. Luba Yudasina is the founder behind the platform, and as a “former Airbnb engineer, [she] has achieved a modest YouTube following on her Life of Luba channel, which catalogs her experiences in the tech world.” Her experience with the monetization struggles among creators has led her to create a platform where creators won’t have to rely on ads or subscriptions to make the bulk of their money and the revenue split with Zarta takes just 25% while the rest goes to the creators themselves.
