TikTok influencers are making breast augmentations popular again among Gen Z. The social app’s “it girl” Alix Earle openly talks about her implants with her followers and other influencers like Kennedy Eurich documented the process with her 1.4M+ followers. Recently, Jazmyn Smith, host of the “Hot Girl Talks” podcast, got the procedure done, TikToker Kensington Tillo scheduled one, and TikToker Becca Moore was ahead of the trend and had hers done last year. Now, the hashtag #BreastAugmentation has reached over 917M views on the platform. Doctors are attributing the increase in procedures to the fact that Alix Earle is many girls’ main inspiration—and with the combination of how powerful influencers (and TikTok in general) are and young women’s poor mental health when it comes to their body image, the trend is only continuing to rise. YPulse’s Beauty and Personal Care report data shows 45% of young females agree that social media makes them want to get cosmetic surgery. (Glossy)
