Meta is launching a paid verification subscription service for Instagram and Facebook (like Twitter Blue). In an effort to increase “authenticity and security” across their platforms, the tech giant is introducing Meta Verified for $11.99 a month on the web and $14.99 a month on iOS. Instagram and Facebook users will be able to “submit their government ID and get a blue verification badge,” but they must be at least 18-years-old and “meet minimum account activity requirements.” While subscriptions also protect against impersonations by providing warnings, businesses are not yet eligible to participate.
