Gen Z and Millennials would rather order food at kiosks than from a person. We’ve seen fast food chains quickly adapt to appeal to young consumers over the last few years, and while contactless food stations aren’t anything new, Gen Z and Millennials are making it clear they want them to stick around. According to a recent study from Revenue Management Consultants LLC, 68% of Gen Z and 58% of Millennials prefer “ordering via kiosks rather than through an interaction with a restaurant employee.” Of all age groups who like ordering this way, they say that “the ability to construct a customized order…[and] increased browsing time – and its corollary, reduced time pressure.” Plus, according to Catering Insight’s research by tech company Vita Mojo, “more than 60% of [M]illennials and nearly 80% of Gen [Z] had an easier time navigating a kiosk-based menu than a menu board.” (TastingTable)
