In more fast food news, TikTok’s “secret menus” are getting on employees’ last nerves.

In more fast food news, TikTok’s “secret menus” are getting on employees’ last nerves. The power of social media is no joke, especially when it comes to Gen Z and Millennials’ food cravings. TikTokers who jump on the app to rave about their favorite food items and custom orders often create viral hype, which can be extremely overwhelming for food service workers. For example, a Waffle House put out a sign telling customers to “Order from the menu,” and “We are not making anything you saw on TikTok!!” Last year, Chipotle handled a viral ordering hack from the kid’s menu, but they’re yet again dealing with a menu hack involving a quesadilla trend (although this time they’re giving in and making it an official menu item). These custom requests are often complicated and time-consuming and put fast food workers under pressure to adapt quickly—plus, some locations are having ingredient shortages as a result.
