More brands are leaning into fake holidays to create viral marketing moments. Whether it’s National Nude Day or National Chocolate Cake Day (which is apparently today), brands love taking these made up events and transforming them into fun content for young consumers. For example, last year’s National French Fry Day was set to fall on a Wednesday, but fast food chains couldn’t miss the opportunity to have Fry Day not fall on a Friday. Thus, the calendar was forever changed to fall on the second Friday of every July. Plus, brands are making huge marketing moments out of Valentine’s Day alternatives like Galentine’s Day gift ideas and even Palentine’s Day from GoodRx celebrating friendship, which YPulse found is a key trend for Gen Z and Millennials this year.
