Greta Thunberg was detained by the police while protesting with 35,000 climate activists in Germany. The most famous Gen Z climate activist was taking part in a protest against the expansion of a coal mine in Lützerath, Germany, got arrested, and became a meme in the process. Pictures of Greta smiling while being carried away by armed policemen were all over the internet, and put the spotlight on the environmental battle fought by these activists. The German government is struggling to provide energy at a cheap price while sticking to its ambitions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the expansion of the Lützerath is an example of this conundrum.
