Gen Z is looking to dating apps like Bumble BFF and Meetup to find platonic relationships.

Jan 24 2023

Gen Z is looking to dating apps like Bumble BFF and Meetup to find platonic relationships. While dating apps have become a norm for young people to find love, a growing number of them are turning to these platforms to find friends. The pandemic brought on remote work and school, which were key places young people formed friendships. And because of a mass sense of social isolation, Gen Z is finding community and connection online. As more platforms open up designated spaces for friendship, young people are jumping in on them. In fact, according to Bumble, “by the end of 2021, 15% of Bumble users had also used BFF.” YPulse’s Dating and Relationships report data shows that over half (53%) of Gen Z say they use dating apps / sites to find new friends compared to just 42% who say they use them to find their future girlfriend / boyfriend.
