TikTok knows users are addicted, so they’re reminding them to get some sleep. YPulse’s The TikTok Effect trend report data shows that 48% of Gen Z say they’re addicted to TikTok, and the app itself is testing a new sleep reminder function to combat this. Users who are part of the test will see a new “sleep reminders” option under the “screen time” tab in their settings. After selecting a preferred sleep time, TikTok will remind users to log off at that time and also “mute push notifications for seven hours after your sleep time to help you avoid distractions.” Specifically for teens, there will be restricted nighttime notifications set in place. For example, those ages “13-15 don’t receive push notifications from 9 p.m. and users aged 16-17 have push notifications disabled starting at 10 p.m.” (TechCrunch)
