New virtual influencer tech just arrived on the scene—and it’s changing the future of avatars. Ogilvy is launching “Reality,” which is what they’re calling “a digital experience ‘lab’ dedicated to researching and creating new applications of technologies such as [augmented reality] AR, [virtual reality] VR and NFT.” While many brands have already been experimenting with this kind of emerging tech and web3 experiences, there is still a lot of growth happening in the industry. “Reality” will focus on synthetic experiences like virtual humans and brand specific avatars as well as decentralized experiences like NFT designs and web3 applications. YPulse’s Metaverse trend report found that nearly a quarter of 13-39-year-olds have followed a virtual person on social media and the majority of young consumers who play virtual world games say brands should hire avatars as influencers to promote their product.
