ITV is launching a new streaming platform on December 8 to bring even more on-demand entertainment to British consumers. ITV is the second biggest public broadcast television network in the U.K., and is facing increasing competition from streaming platforms such as Netflix and Disney +. With ITV X, British consumers will have access to more than 250+ movies, and 10,000 hours of shows, three times the amount on ITVHub, ITV’s current streaming platform. There will still be ads on the platform, but users will be able to go ad-free if they opt for the premium option. With young Europeans watching more video content than ever before, the competition for their attention in the entertainment industry is getting fierce. Streaming platforms are trying to experiment to get more revenue, such as Netflix increasing the price of subscriptions and charging for password sharing accounts. (The Telegraph)
