Activist and author Aurielle Marie went viral for her TikTok asking Lizzo to loan her a dress. Marie writes about “Blackness, bodies, and culture” and their debut book Gumbo Yaya is about their experiences growing up “fat, Black, and queer in the South.” This year, Marie was named one of Out Magazine’s Out100, but as they couldn’t find anything to wear that was “Big B**** and red-carpet ready,” they felt less excited to go to the event, leading them to make a TikTok “Paging Lizzo” and asking to borrow her 2022 Emmy’s dress. Lizzo has made body positivity a core value of her public platform, from her lyrics to her Emmy award-winning series This Is For The Big Girls. The TikTok gained over 800K views and got Lizzo’s attention. The singer sent Marie a (stunning) tulle gown, which she unboxed in a follow up vid that has 1.6M views today. Gen Z and Millennials are advocates for inclusivity of all kinds, and many love Lizzo for moments exactly like these. (UPROXX)
