Mindfulness books for children are trending—and kids themselves are asking for more. The publishing industry is noticing that book sales for kids 10-years-old and under that address emotions are up almost 40%. Millennial parents are in search of these titles and are desperate for more mental health tools in response to stressful environments brought on by the pandemic, climate change, and the ever-increasing cost of living. According to Nielsen Bookscan’s Understanding the Children’s Book Consumer report, “more than 850,000 children aged up to 17 say they like books on personal development, self-esteem and mental health.” Publishing houses are working hard to address this demand, which is up 76% since 2019. MacMillan children’s publishing has launched a series of books for toddlers called Little Big Feelings, that now has eight titles. YPulse’s Millennial parenting report shows that almost half of parents say they’re reading to their children every day. (The Guardian)
