Pinterest is pushing for more livestream shopping by extending their Pinterest TV to Canada. The platform wants consumers to “‘Shop the Holidays on Pinterest TV’ with 10 hours of daily programming running from November 15-18th in Canada and the US.” Over sixty brands, including JENNY BIRD, Wayfair, and NUDESTIX will take part in the programming and plan on featuring popular gift guides, discounts, and flash sales. As just about every social app is dipping their feet into social shopping, Pinterest is bringing QVC style shopping to young consumers’ TV screens. However, it’s hard to say how this will compare with shopping directly from their mobile devices; YPulse data shows 83% of Gen Z and Millennials agree that if you are posting a social media ad there should be a direct link to purchase and our Shopping and Retail report shows that only 9% of young consumers have ever purchased an item from a livestream.
