Gen Z and Millennials are finding and buying gifts for the holidays on social media.

Nov 15 2022

Gen Z and Millennials are finding and buying gifts for the holidays on social media.Young shoppers are inspired to make purchases based on what they’re seeing on their feeds—and being able to shop directly from them makes the daunting task of finding a gift for all their friends and family way easier. According to a Deloitte survey, “60% of Gen Z and 56% of Millennials will do at least some holiday shopping on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and similar apps” this year. Six in ten shoppers say they get their inspiration and ideas from their feeds, making social media the first place they look before making purchases. Some use Pinterest for trendy / themed ideas and then migrate to Facebook Marketplace where they can look for bargains. Plus, new influencers are emerging on the scene who are dedicated to helping their followers find the best gifts. For example, Savannah Baron on TikTok gives gift ideas based on categories and who they’re for, like the best gifts for their mother-in-law, new dads, girlfriends, etc. YPulse’s Holiday Shopping Plans report data shows that while the majority of young consumers plan on shopping both in-store and online, 45% say they’ll be doing all of their holiday shopping online and won’t set foot in any stores.
