Apple TV+ is tapping Millennial nostalgia by partnering with Fraggle Rock for this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The partnership will start with Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, a video series arriving on Apple TV+ and Macy’s social media throughout the week leading up to Thanksgiving featuring Uncle “Travelling” Matt. Uncle “Travelling” Matt is known as a great “explorer” and is set on answering age old questions about the holiday and its history and alludes to the Fraggles’ own celebrations. He’ll then appear on NBC’s live broadcast Thanksgiving Day, teasing the show’s own holiday special “Night of the Lights” which will also premier mid-November. Recently, more brands have been appealing to Millennial nostalgia around the holidays (see McDonald’s bringing back their “Boo Buckets”) and we know this kind of marketing is winning them over.
