Millennials are spending more than any other generation on digital food orders. Compared to other gens, Millennials are the most familiar with food ordering technology and are spending more per individual meal on average. Specifically, those on the cusp between elder Millennial and Gen X are spending $31.50 per online order compared to $25.80 for Millennials overall. Meanwhile, Gen Z is spending the least of all with an average of $18.10 per online order. This could be attributed to them having less spending power, but YPulse has also explored that this gen is just not as into foodie culture, which could also be a factor. Restaurants looking to expand on their ecommerce partnerships with popular services like Grubhub or Doordash are likely to see Millennials as their highest paying customers. For restaurants looking to bring on more of Gen Z, they ought to attract them with in-person perks. YPulse research shows price is a driving factor when it comes to Gen Z and Millennials’ restaurant choices. (PYMNTS)
