While Gen Z and Millennials hate traditional phone calls, they love voice messaging.

Oct 05 2022

While Gen Z and Millennials hate traditional phone calls, they love voice messaging. To some, going back and forth between voice memos is reminiscent of trucker radio calls, but to Gen Z and Millennials, it’s a convenient way to get their point across. For them, voice messaging gives them the opportunity to convey their message using the tone of voice they want it to be perceived in, all while being able to reply on their own timeframe. According to WhatsApp, “voice messaging is one of [their] most popular features with over 7 billion voice messages sent daily.” It’s also providing a sense of connection for young users who are always communicating digitally. It’s even become a trend to share funny voice memos from Hinge profiles on TikTok. YPulse’s upcoming Social Media Monitor report survey will touch on young consumers’ usage of voice messaging as more social apps include the feature. (WSJ)
