YouTube users will now be able to reply to video comments with a Short. TikTok is short-form video’s biggest competitor and while some platforms are struggling to compete against it, YouTube Shorts is continuing to make some major changes to attract user engagement. The platform created a new Shorts tool that “[pops] up a ‘Create a Short’ button when creators tap ‘Reply’ next to comments on their videos.” Basically, creators will be able to further connect with their audiences by replying in video format. While this is an ability TikTok has had for a while now, YouTube is promising this is the first of many updates intended to attract young users. YPulse’s Social Media Monitor report shows that Gen Z and Millennials are posting, commenting, and sending messages more frequently on TikTok than they are on YouTube. (Tubefilter)
