TikTok is inspiring Gen Z to enter the interior design industry. Aesthetics are important to young consumers—and they’re curating their perfect looks on social media. TikTok’s home design community is allowing them to visualize how they can redesign their spaces and is inspiring young designers to get in on the industry. As a larger number of people prioritized redecorating and home rennos over the pandemic, Gen Z TikTokers started to build full blown businesses. The category on TikTok is a huge category, #InteriorDesignCareer and #InteriorDesignBusiness have over 78K and 120K views on the app “while the big-picture hashtag #InteriorDesigner has 1.7 billion views.” YPulse research shows that the majority of Gen Z and Millennials say everything in their home should be beautiful so it looks good in pictures for social media, so grabbing a young designer who’s hip on TikTok will ensure this.
