JCPenney is attracting young consumers to their makeup counters with artificial intelligence and reality. After recently having to replace Sephora, JCPenney is stepping up their JCPenney Beauty game with the new tech. The retailer is tapping Revieve, a brand experience platform that specializes in artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR), to help JCPenney offer an AI skincare adviser and AR makeup try-ons. YPulse research shows young consumers are already familiar with AR try-ons, but Revieve’s skincare adviser tool lets customers upload “selfies to provide personalized skincare routines and make product recommendations.” They can also answer a questionnaire about their skin type and concerns that will give them personalized recommendations.
