Starbucks is launching a new Web3 experience to go alongside their Starbucks Rewards loyalty program. Starbucks Odyssey will offer their customers and employees “the opportunity to earn and purchase digital collectible assets that will unlock access to new benefits and immersive coffee experiences.” Starbucks Rewards members will be able to earn “journey stamps,” (which are really just NFTs, but they want to reduce the tech jargon) by competing in a series of coffee related games and challenges. They will also be able to purchase “limited-edition stamps” using their credit cards without the need for a crypto wallet. Each stamp or NFT will hold point value and as users gain points, they’ll be able to unlock experiences like “a virtual espresso martini-making class and trips to the brand’s coffee farm in Costa Rica.” YPulse’s Buying Into Crypto and NFTs trend report looks at some of the food and beverage brands that have launched NFT drops—and a quarter of Gen Z and Millennials tell us they would buy an NFT from a food brand.
