This Millennial turned dorm makeovers into a full blown career. Just last month, Alethea Johnson, a 29-year-old nurse, posted a TikTok video showcasing how she resigned her sister’s college dorm room. By turning to Gen Z and Millennial favorites like Amazon and Dollar Tree, she was able to completely makeover her sister’s room for under $300. After racking up 11 million views, Alethea promptly quit her job and began her dream career as an interior designer. Her TikTok feed now consists of before and after videos showing off her designs, as well as DIYs teaching viewers how to make their own furniture. YPulse’s Shopping for the Home report shows that the majority of Gen Z and Millennials want to put more effort into decorating their spaces and feeling comfortable is a priority. (CNBC)
