ByteDance is cutting back their gaming efforts. Earlier this year, TikTok gaming was being heavily pushed throughout the app, bent on making the platform even more addictive for Gen Z. But their parent company ByteDance is pulling back and has reportedly laid off hundreds of their staff members and is “aggressively downsizing” their video game efforts. While their current gaming projects will continue, no further games are being planned for development. YPulse’s Gaming report data shows 77% of Gen Z and Millennials say they play mobile games weekly or more and spend about eight hours a week doing so. (IGN)
