Thomas & Friends is adding a new neurodiverse character. The demand for diverse kids shows is growing in the U.S. and in an effort to make Thomas & Friends more inclusive this season, they’ve added Bruno, a “joyful, pun-making brake car” in their new season, All Seasons Go. Like most neurodivergent children, Bruno likes “schedules and routine, can hold large, heavy loads steady with his strong brakes [and] has ladders and a flashlight on his bright red exterior that indicate his emotional state, moving when he is excited or cautious.” The show knows they play a big part in the autism community and wanted to create a character that reflects kids with autism to let them know that “all kinds of thinkers are admired.” (Kidscreen)
