Recruiters are ditching LinkedIn—and looking to TikTok and Instagram for Gen Z talent instead.

Recruiters are ditching LinkedIn—and looking to TikTok and Instagram for Gen Z talent instead. Younger generations might soon be able to say goodbye to resumes, cover letters, and setting up a perfect LinkedIn profile because now they can simply jump on their favorite apps and send a quick DM. As more brands look for social media-savvy Gen Z talent, some are taking their search directly to the source. Brands like Lottie London, Cerave, and Pacsun have all recruited social media marketing roles via DMs and have even found new hires through their own content. LinkedIn has become somewhat of a joke to Gen Z and “parodies have proliferated across TikTok, Twitter and Instagram, with posts saying, ‘LinkedIn influencers be like…’ going viral that show the most absurd forms of corporate hustle culture propaganda on the platform.” YPulse’s Employment and Career report data shows 17% of Gen Z look for jobs on TikTok and 14% look on Instagram, but if they see more brands hiring on their socials in the future, they’ll likely be more inclined to apply in these spaces.
