TikTok is offering their own AI art generator directly in the app. Remember when Dream by Wombo took Gen Z’s favorite app by storm earlier this year? Well, now TikTok has created their own text-to-image AI photo generator, a filter called “AI greenscreen.” Users can type in a text prompt that the tech translates into an image that is able to appear as a background to videos. While other AI imaging tech can produce more complex and detailed art, TikTok’s system is more basic with images that appear abstract and whimsical. #BookTok, one of the app’s largest subcultures, has already started using the AI greenscreen filters to generate fanart, creating scenes from their favorite books. YPulse’s Social Media Monitor report data shows 40% of Gen Z uses TikTok’s filters/effects. (The Verge)
