In other grocery news, Aldi is donating 80K baby essentials across the U.K. to help parents in need. YPulse’s Western Europe Millennial Parent report data shows seven in 10 British parents say they were caught off guard by the expense of parenthood and the estimated increase of inflation, which is expected to rise to 15% by 2023, is not helping. Aldi was prompted by “the news that almost eight out of every ten new parents are worried about the cost of providing for their newborn.” According to both YouGov and Aldi, 55% of new parents say they have struggled to afford essential products for their babies and 29% say they’re cutting back as well as ”going without food themselves in order to buy nappies, wipes and formula.” Essential items, including those from Aldi’s own award winning baby brand, Mamia, will go to charities and food banks across the U.K. with low income families a priority. Donations will be made via Neighbourly, which is used frequently by the brand. (Grocery Gazette)
